MYTH AND LEGEND
This theme holds a special place in my creative journey as it taps into the timeless stories and universal symbols that shape our collective imagination. With intricate designs, I aim make mythical creatures tangible, using light and shadow to enhance their mysterious and ethereal qualities.
A homage to the mythical phoenix and its enduring spirit of rebirth. Crafted from a single sheet of A4 paper, this intricate piece unveils the vibrant and fiery colors of an alcohol ink backdrop, bringing the phoenix to life in a spectacular display.
Through this artwork, I aim to convey the timeless message of the phoenix—that no matter the challenges we face, we have the capacity to emerge stronger, wiser, and filled with renewed purpose. The phoenix becomes a symbol of our own ability to overcome adversity and embrace personal transformation.
In this piece I have crafted a layered papercut lightbox that displays a dragon's sanctuary.
To create an immersive experience, I have situated the dragon within a cave adorned with stalactites and stalagmites. These natural formations add depth and texture to the artwork, evoking the rugged and enchanting environment where the dragon finds solace.
I have incorporated LED lights that illuminate the layered composition, revealing the intricate details of the dragon's scales and the rocky cave.
In the top half of the papercut lightbox, immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the woodland. Amongst the delicate trees, a graceful deer stands. Nearby, a family of bears, guardians of the forest, gather at the entrance to a cave system. This scene encapsulates the harmony between the inhabitants of the woods and their natural surroundings.
As your gaze descends, the papercut reveals the hidden depths below the forest floor—a secret realm nestled within a cave. Within this subterranean domain, a family of rabbits finds shelter and warmth amidst the intertwining tree roots. Venturing deeper into the cave, I have carved the lair of a magnificent dragon. Resting calmly, the dragon embodies wisdom, strength, and the untamed spirit of the depths.
